Lose Weight from Home | 5 Easy Steps

The pandemic has forced a lot of people to start working from home. And that makes it even more difficult to lose weight—we have snacks at our fingertips and we don’t move nearly enough throughout the day. But losing weight from home is easier than you think!

Got a busy schedule? New to fitness? Need some tips to get started? Check out these 5 easy steps from personal trainer and online coach Declan Flynn

1. Move every hour

Losing weight starts with being aware of how much movement we get throughout the day. Many of us sit at our desks all day long. And science has proven that sitting for this amount of time is detrimental to our health.

When we talk about moving every hour, we don’t necessarily mean push-ups and crunches (although that’s not a bad idea, either!). Here are some ways you can pack more movement into your day:

Park further away so you walk more

Take the stairs, not the elevator

Set the timer on your phone for the last ten minutes of each hour and go for a short walk

Stand while you do your work

2. Clean up your diet

You already know this—eat more fruits and veggies, less sugar and fat. I suggest taking baby steps so you stick with it over the long haul. Start by replacing your breakfast with a delicious smoothie or bowl of oatmeal. Or maybe replace that afternoon bag of chips with some fruit and nut butter. 3. Drink water

Water helps to flush toxins out of your body as well as help your body process the extra fiber you’re getting from following step two! Water also literally helps you to lose weight. You burn an extra 30% for each half liter of water you drink.

Getting those 7-8 hours of sleep each night not only helps your body physically recover, but it can also help to prevent future weight gain.

5. Try a new fitness routine

Online personal training and coaching has boomed in recent years. The benefits of online personal training is you get a personalized fitness routine and you can workout from home. No gyms. No germs. Just fitness.
